We wanted the kids here who don’t travel to big cities regularly to be able to enjoy the cinema. The Cultural Center was the perfect place for three weeks of showings. With the help of the Municipality, we brought 1200 kids from their schools in Çayköy, Dirgenler, Karadağ, Palamut, Patara, Sarıbelen, Sütleğen, Üzümlü, and Çerçiler to Kas. They watched a film and had snacks, we ate lunch together in the garden, and took a short walk by the sea before saying goodbye.
In May of 2018, the students of the Kas Central Primary School sold handmade bookmarks, using the proceeds to buy books for their friends in the villages. They all wrote notes to their little friends inside the books and we sent them off.
As a part of the ‘Children’s Day’ celebrations of April 23rd, we organized a drawing contest to increase participation in the arts and to meet more of our kids. We were happy with the turn out and had a nice day.
In 2018 we had to move our shop due to road construction. We moved into a small shop in the center of town with the help of the municipality. Thanks to our volunteers and everyone that helped we were able to finish the job. We continue to open our shop, now across from the local clinic, four days a week.
We brought children from 18 different village schools down to Kas for Children’s Day celebrations on the 23rd of April. After having some fun at the playground we set up and having lunch they left Kas with some small gifts.
Many members of our organization lived in Kalkan and they greatly supported us. Gathering courage from our Kas store, we decided to collaborate to open a branch in Kalkan. Our active shop, located on the ground floor of the bus station, has been very supportive in terms of income and organization ever since. Their volunteers open the store four days a week and present secondhand goods for sale.
